Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-05-15
This policy explains what data theautoinsurancereviewsite (the "site") collects, what we don't, how third-party services on the site behave, and the rights you have under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA.
What we collect directly
The site's search functionality runs entirely in your browser. Your search queries are not sent to our servers. We do not require accounts, do not collect email addresses unless you submit the contact form, and do not fingerprint visitors.
Analytics
We use a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics tool to collect aggregated, non-identifying usage data: page views, referring domain (in aggregate), browser family, device class, and country at country-level only. IP addresses are not stored. This data is used solely to understand which parts of the archive are useful.
Advertising (Google AdSense / DoubleClick)
This site displays advertising provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. The specific cookies used in this context include:
__gads— used by Google to measure ad interactions and frequency capping.__gpi— used by Google Publisher Tag to store ad personalization preferences.IDE— used by DoubleClick to register and report user actions on the site after viewing or clicking one of an advertiser's ads.NID— used by Google to remember preferences and other information.DSID— used to identify a signed-in user across sites for ad personalization.test_cookie— set to check whether the user's browser supports cookies.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
Consent and the TCF v2.3 framework
When required by your jurisdiction, a Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF v2.3) consent banner appears on first visit. You can accept all, reject all non-essential cookies, or configure granular vendor and purpose consents. Your selection is stored locally and is reflected in the signals sent to advertising partners. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal — if your browser sends GPC, we treat that as an opt-out of the sale and sharing of personal information.
Your rights — GDPR / UK GDPR
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you (if any), request correction or deletion, restrict processing, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact admin@theautoinsurancereviewsite.com. We respond within 30 days.
Your rights — CCPA / CPRA
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete personal information, to correct inaccurate personal information, to opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. To exercise these rights, contact admin@theautoinsurancereviewsite.com or use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer of any page once the CMP is wired up.
Data retention
Aggregated analytics data is retained for 14 months and then rotated out. Contact-form submissions are kept for as long as needed to resolve your inquiry, plus six months for follow-up, then deleted.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we update the "Effective" date at the top and post a notice on the homepage for at least 30 days. Trivial editorial changes are not separately announced.
